Bradford Trip
We recently went on a return visit to the Older and Bolder support group in Bradford. They had been to visit us and meet up for lunch once before, so we jumped on the train and popped over to see how they were getting on in their neck of the woods. Whilst there our group visited the National Museum of Media which was unfortunately an all too brief stay for some of our members who are planning to return at some point to take it all in. Here are a couple of snaps…..

Warrington Trip
On Thursday 3rd April we absconded by train from the city and found our way to Warrington. After a walkabout around some of the town centre sights lunch was taken at a local pub. The afternoon saw us take in the Art Gallery which is probably the first Municipal Museum/Art Gallery and Library in the country! We couldn’t leave before sampling a drink in another of the town’s friendly hostelries before returning to Manchester. Our thanks must go to Tony and Bill for acting as our tour guides for the day.

Teddy Bears Picnic
The group has made it a new tradition that but once a year we celebrate the summer weather with our very own Teddy Bears Picnic. They take place in canal streets very own slice of the country, Sackville Gardens. A whole host of bears arrive to feast upon such delights as cheese sandwiches and sausage rolls, and maybe if they are lucky even a slice of chocolate cake!! Here are a few snaps from the previous teddy bears picnics and who knows…… maybe next time you will be there to take part.

Fletcher Moss
One of our new favourite locations to casually stroll away the day, is Fletcher Moss Park in Didsbury.
The park is named after local Alderman Fletcher Moss, who donated the park to the city of Manchester in 1919. It is part botanical garden and part wildlife habitat, but also offers recreational facilities such as tennis courts, rugby and football pitches and a cafe. Fletcher Moss has held the Green Flag Award, the national standard for parks and green spaces in England, since 2000.
